Muppets, Maps, and Ireland

So I recently got the pleasure of going to see the new Muppet's movie.  Boy did that take me to my child hood. I loved them!
In the movie they Travel by Map. You know where they show the plain flying across the map and when it gets there the characters do to? It would be nice to figure that out in real life.

Well while Andrew and I were in Ireland we discovered that we would never of survived on paper maps.  We have never been so thankful for our google map app on our phones till this trip.  They saved us from a lot of headaches. we would both be at 20% battery life by the time we made it to the next hotel.  only once did we not find our destination thanks to the phone.  I highly recommend renting a GPS or have a map app if you are ever driving over seas! Andrew did all the driving and I was navigating the whole time and it made for some crazy adventures but we decided it was the best way to see Ireland.

the above map was given to us and it is just of Dublin. It came in so handy! Below i have marked our route we took around Ireland.

Have you ever gotten lost or wished you had GPS?

Painting with M&Ms

So today the boys and I painted with M&Ms. Now I know it sounds like a sticky mess but it was not at all.  first we sorted the M&Ms into 6 different cups.  I'm sure clear cups would have been more fun but we did not have any.  Then we talked about which ones had more and which had the least M&Ms in them. Then i added water till it just covered he M&Ms and Chase stirred them up till the M&Ms turned whit. This is what they looked like after paintng with them.  Sorry i forgot to take pictures before we painted.

The Boys loved it.

Sorry I had to use my phone for picks so Caleb's movements are blurry.  After they got done painting i drained the M&Ms out and they looked like this...
so you can see how it was not messy since the chocolate part stayed formed.  the brushes were a bit sticky and i just washed with a little soap and they are good as new. But both boys stayed completely clean.  here is the final art work. and some close ups of how they dried. i love the splattered look and how the thick parts dried bumped up.

Have you ever painted with an unusual food or item?

No heat Curls 2

So I showed you my attempt at no heat curls with a head band.  now I'm going to share my no heat curls with a twisty and bobby pins.  This is my favorite way to do no heat curls.

So first you pull your hair up in a high but slightly loss pony tail.  Then I start at the top of my pony tail and take little pieces and curl them around two fingers.  Once it is completely curled I then use two bobbies and pin it to my hair above the twist. and continue to repeat that till all my hair is curled and pinned.  my hair then looks like this.
It actually makes a cute bun you could where during the day and then take down to have curls for an evening look. But as you may be able to see from my clock I'm going to sleep in mine.  Oh and i believe my hair is dry or very close to dry.  So here is how it looks after I've slept on it.
As you can see it mostly stayed up. and what ever has fallen out will blend in once you take the rest down.
Here I've just taken all the bobby pins out but it is still in a pony.  i used about 18-20 bobby pins but i have very thick hair so you may not need as many.
Here it is completely down, I just finger combed it and brushed the very top. My hair in most cases does not hold curl very long but with this way of curling it it will last most of the day with out any hair spray.  where if i had curled it with my curling iron i would have soaked it in hair spray just have the curl last only two hours at most.  so I hope this helps you save time and enjoy having curls that wont damage your hair.

Do you have a favorite way to curl your hair?

My Favorite Hotel in Ireland!

So as I told you in my first post I recently went to Ireland with my brother Andrew.  We got to stay in 5 and 4 star hotel as we traveled around the island.  But my favorite hotel of all was in Dublin.  it was the...
They had the softest beds, kindest staff, and their was nothing to complain about.  Here are some pictures i took of the hotel room we had.
As you can see we have a twin room so we each got our own bed.  it is rare to find a hotel in Ireland that has two double or two queen beds.

We had awesome window seats with a view of a fun building and quart yard.

The bathtub was HUGE!
We happened to be there at apple season. So they would have apples stacked in the sitting area on each floor by the Lift.  And I believe that was the best apple I've ever eaten.
I hope you enjoyed the FitzWillam Hotel Dublin and I've been thinking of walking you through the food I enjoyed next time :)  Well off to enjoy my cheddar biscuit i can smell and calling my name.

No Heat Curls

So I follow http://www.cutegirlshairstyles.com/ on youtube and love all the great ideas for ways to style my hair. So I decided to try the no heat headband curls. So you wrap your hair around an athletic head band and it looks like this.

I then went to bead and slept with my hair in the head band.  I was afraid it would all fall out while i slept.  but  luckly it did not.  here is what it looks like after i slept on it.

So as you can see it did not all fall out :) I then unwrapped my hair from around the head band. brushed only the top part and pulled it back with a clip.  and here are the final results.
So my hair does not hold curl very well and i realized i should probably have wet my hair down a little for better curls.  So I hope to try again in the future. and i also have another no heat curl trick that I do with a some bobby pins and a hair twist that i will have to show everyone another time.
Thank you http://www.youtube.com/user/CuteGirlsHairstyles?feature=g-all-u and please check them out for great ideas for your hair or you daughters or any gal in your life!
